AFL in Tasmania – March to August 2008
Launceston’s Aurora Stadium hosts games as part of the AFL premiership season. Melbourne-based team Hawthorn has made Aurora stadium its home away from home.
Rolex Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race – Starts 26 December 2007
The Rolex Sydney to Hobart
is a 628nm yacht race which begins in Sydney Harbour and finishes in Hobart. The race covers a gruelling 628-nautical-miles of course and is considered one of the world's great blue water classics.

ITU Hobart International Triathlon – February 2008
See elite athletes swim cycle and run against a background of historic Hobart waterfront, city and battery point.
Targa Tasmania – 15 to 20 April 2008
Six-day international tarmac rally event covering over 2,000 kilometres of Tasmanian roads with competitive stages on closed roads for the best touring, sports and GT cars in the world.

Cygnet Folk Festival – January 2008
Every January the small community of this southern Tasmanian town presents a tremendous variety of music, dance, and related arts, over three wonderful days.
The Falls Festival – 30 December 2007 to 1 January 2008
Two days and nights of music and entertainment from more then 50 local and international acts, set on farmland overlooking the beautiful Marion Bay.
10 Days on the Island – 27 March to 5 April 2009
The biennial community festival attracts dancers, writers, poets and musicians from islands around the world, celebrating and exploring island cultures
FOOD & WINE
Taste of Tasmania – 28 December 2007 to 3 January 2008
The Taste is a food and beverage event showcasing Tasmania’s much celebrated food and wine. The yearly event coincides with the finish to the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race.
Festivale – 8 to 10 February 2008
Held in the historic City Park, Festivale features Tasmania’s renowned food and wine amid all the colour and fun of family entertainment, provided by local, interstate and international artists.
Taste of the Huon – 9 to 10 March 2008
A Taste of the Huon is a celebration of the fine food and wine and entertainment of the Huon Valley, DEntrecasteaux Channel and Bruny Island regions of Tasmania.
