This February & March promises to be an exciting one for Tasmania, with a range of fabulous events on offer. Highlights include the Southern Open Vineyards Weekend for wine lovers, and the King Island Imperial 20 – the only coast to coast footrace in Australia.

SOUTHERN OPEN VINEYARDS WEEKEND
Held in multiple venues across Hobart, the Southern Open Vineyards Weekend will see vineyards and wineries throughout Southern Tasmania opening their doors to the public for rare cellar door sales and tastings. It is a fantastic time for visitors to visit the vineyards and sample wines from the Coal River, Derwent and Huon Valley regions as well as the East Coast. Some of Tasmania’s boutique wineries are open to the public only during this exclusive period.

KING ISLAND IMPERIAL 20
The KING ISLAND IMPERIAL 20 is the only coast to coast footrace in Australia, and is held on King Island, midway between Victoria and mainland Tasmania. The main feature of the race is a challenging 32 kilometre run that will take participants on a stunning route from Naracoopa to Currie. Other events on offer include the Handicapped Running Events, Team Running and Walking Events, a short course (8km) event, a students’ race, and even a race involving prams!
Entries for the race close on 15th February 2009 with fees starting from $15 for the 8km Walking Event, and $40 for the 32 km events.
