TASTINGS AT THE TOP : 20 – 23 June
Tastings at the Top, one of Tasmania’s premier culinary events, is a 3-day epicurean extravaganza celebrating the very best of Tasmanian produce. The event is part of a package offered by the luxurious Cradle Mountain Lodge, and includes delicious degustation dinners, fresh produce markets, wine tastings, wilderness walks and pampering spa treatments at the lodge’s Waldheim Alpine Spa. Guests will also have the opportunity to mingle with local producers, boutique winemakers, beer brewers and specialist growers from Tasmania’s various regions. The event will be hosted by Sydney’s Peter Bourne, “The Wine Man”, who has an intimate knowledge of Tasmanian produce.

FESTIVAL OF VOICES : 9 – 12 July
The Festival of Voices is a midwinter festival held around Hobart’s waterfront & arts precinct which brings together inspiring teachers, choirs, singing groups and individuals in a celebration of singing and the beauty of the human voice. The 2009 Festival will feature guest workshops by renowned choral directors, including Malcolm Daglish (US), Mike Brewer OBE (UK) and Myron Butler (USA) – with choral arrangements of African, South American and Mexican music. The 2009 festival will also feature short weekend workshops, ideal for visitors who would like to participate! Other events include the 1-hour Aperitivo Series, Feature Concerts, and the two event highlights – the Grand Finale and the free-to-public Bonfire Concert, which is perfect on a winter’s night!

CHOCOLATE WINTERFEST – Sunday, 12 July
The Chocolate Winterfest in Latrobe – just 7 minutes drive from Devonport – is a wicked, decadent celebration of all things chocolate. The deliciously fun festival includes highlights such as the Aztec Chocolate Festival (held at the region’s renowned chocolate factory, House of Anvers), a chocolate indulgence class (where visitors learn the art of making chocolate), chocolate mousse mayhem (where teams of two are blindfolded and made to feed each other chocolate mousse); and the chocolate corner, with chocolate fountains, handmade chocolates, Mt Elizabeth fudge, Hawley’s Gingerbread and other epicurean delights!
