PATRICIA PICCININI – EVOLUTION
Displayed at the Tasmanian Museum & Art Gallery from 14 March – 14 June, Patricia Piccinini’s Evolution will enchant visitors with her vision of the possible flora and fauna of the future world. Piccinini has received attention internationally for her startling sculptures, digital environments and images, and her works have been said to take guests to ‘a post-Darwinian destination populated with fantastical creatures, new communities and bioethical conundrums’.

TASMANIAN HERITAGE FEST – WATER OUR ISLAND’S LIFE FORCE
In its month-long calendar of exciting water-influenced activities, the 2009 Tasmanian Heritage Festival will showcase how Water – the festival’s theme – has shaped Tasmania throughout its history – serving as a ‘double lock on the door’ for convicts imprisoned on the island, and as an invaluable source for agriculture, transportation and recreation for Tasmania’s early settlers. From educational exhibitions on the significance of water to treasure hunts, scenic walks, luxury cruises and maritime archaeology courses, the Tasmanian Heritage Festival will be an exciting and educational event for all ages.
