New World Class Adventure Offerings Entice Travellers To Tassie This Spring - 18 September 2009

Bay of Fires WalkTasmania’s tourism operators are gearing up for a season of exhilarating adventure experiences this Spring, with new kayaking tours in the south west, cycling trips island wide and rewarding bushwalks from coast to mountains. Spring is the peak of Tasmania’s adventure season, when many of the island’s great walks reopen, welcoming adventure-seekers who are looking for challenging and rejuvenating experiences. The lush spring greenery and blooming wildflowers also make it a good time for adventure-seekers, who can immerse themselves in Tassie’s natural beauty while engaging in the adventure activity of their choice.

Roaring 40s Wilderness Tours
Roaring 40s Wilderness Tours, set in the pristine, spectacular and isolated surrounds of the island’s World Heritage Listed southwest wilderness, recently launched a Three Day Exploration in Kayaks experience. The journey begins on a small aircraft flown by a highly-skilled bush pilot, taking travellers on a 45 minute flight over rugged coastal terrain and mountain scenery before landing on the Bathurst Harbour airstrip, in the heart of the southwest. This is followed by a three day wilderness kayaking experience along the calmer waters of Bathurst Harbour and the Narrows, with relaxing lunch breaks and accommodation at the Forrest Lagoon Standing Camp – a refined camping experience in the rugged environment of the area. The Three Day Exploration in Kayaks is led by a dedicated, highly skilled professional guide and costs $1895pp ($1955 for dates between Jan 1st to March 1st). The tours start from 10 November 2009 through to 13 April.

Roaring 40s also runs three other adventure experiences, a 7 Day Expedition by Sea Kayak, a 3 Day Journey of Walks and a Wilderness Weekend.

Island Cycle Tours
Island Cycle Tours offers cycling enthusiasts 7 Day East Coast tours, 7 Day West Coast tours and a 13 Day Entire Island Tour of Tasmania, with travellers cycling approximately 60km – 90km per day alongside a professional guide. The cycling tours are a great way to explore Tasmania, taking cyclists along some of the state’s most scenic routes. The cycling experiences start from $2,495 twin share and $680 single supplement for the seven day tours, and $4,680 per person twin share and $1,310 single supplement for the thirteen day tour.
