On Targa - 27 March 2008

The 17th Targa Tasmania takes place between 15 and 20 April. Targa Tasmania

This year some 300 of the world's finest cars will travel more than 2,000 kilometres (1200 miles) around Tasmania. Roadsters including Ferrari, Maserati, Lamborghini, Lotus, and Porsche will cruise along scenic coastal roads and mountain passes. A $1million Pagani Zonda, one of only 100 in the world, will be a support vehicle.

As ever the classics, including a 1930s Jaguar SS100, a Bugatti Type 35B (1920s), a Locomobile Speedster and a Rolls Royce Silver Ghost, will zing along too.

This year’s Targa will, as it does every year, pass through some of Tasmania’s most acclaimed settings; from seaside St Helens and the wineries of the Tamar Valley to Strahan via Gunns Plains and then on to riverside Hobart via the road through the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area.

Given the island’s landscape is as diverse as the cars in the Targa field is good news for spectators: there’s a whole lot to take in over the six days of the event.

A self-drive VIP Spectator package from Tas Vacations costs $1495:1800 030 160
