Getting To Tasmania

Air

Fly to Tasmania direct from Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Adelaide or Canberra or by using convenient connections from other Australian states.

There are frequent scheduled flights of around one hour every day from Melbourne to Hobart, Launceston, Devonport and Burnie (Wynyard).

Daily services also operate from Sydney to Hobart and Launceston as well as a range of other services direct to Hobart from the Gold Coast, Canberra and Adelaide and daily direct service from Brisbane to Launceston.

Fly to King Island daily from Melbourne, Devonport and Burnie (Wynyard).

Fly to Flinders Island daily from Melbourne and Launceston.

Shuttle buses service Hobart, Launceston, Wynyard (Burnie) and Devonport.

Sea

The Spirt of Tasmania

The Spirit of Tasmania crosses Bass Strait all year round, between Station Pier in Port Melbourne and Devonport on Tasmania’s north coast.

Onboard accommodation ranges from airline-style seating to private deluxe cabins. All cabins feature private facilities, adjustable air-conditioning and a 220-volt socket.

Vehicles and trailers of all sizes can be accommodated onboard, and kennels are available.

The Spirit of Tasmania crosses Bass Strait most nights – in both directions.

During peak season, there is the option of travelling on a day sailing on certain days of the week
