DAY 1-2: Hobart
Salamanca MarketEnjoy the panoramic views from the summit of Hobart’s Mount Wellington before an adrenalin-pumping cycle down with your tour guide. Read more.

Visit Constitution Dock and Salamanca Place, Hobart’s cultural hub, where there are art and craft stores, galleries, cafes and bars, gourmet food stores and more. On Saturdays, Salamanca Place is abuzz with the weekly market, where stallholders sell locally grown produce and handmade crafts to locals and visitors.

Overnight in Hobart.

Day two begins with a cruise to Bruny Island, 37 km south of Hobart, where you’ll discover spectacular coastal cliffs, marine life and learn about the island’s fascinating history. Read more.

Back in Hobart, there’s plenty more exploring to be done – wander around the historic village of Battery Point or the city’s excellent museums and galleries.

DAY 3: Hobart to Strahan
Travel to Mt. Field National Park, just an hour north of Hobart. A short walk through a temperate rainforest to the scenic Russell Falls is a must.

Continuing through the Central Highlands and into the spectacular wilderness of the Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park to the historic mining town of Queenstown.

Our destination is Strahan, on the vast Macquarie Harbour, for two nights stay.

DAY 4: Strahan
Cruise the Gordon River and travel into Tasmania’s Gondwanan wilderness, where ancient Huon pines still grow. The cruise also includes a tour of Sarah Island, once the infamous penal settlement. Watch the sunset from Ocean Beach.

DAY 5: Strahan to Cradle Mountain
Heading north to Zeehan, known in its heyday in the 1900s as the Silver City. The local Gaiety Theatre attracted miners from afar to performances by such luminaries as Dame Nellie Melba.

Arriving in Cradle Mountain late afternoon for an evening at the Cradle Mountain Lodge. Take a guided wildlife tour of Tasmania’s unique nocturnal animals, including the elusive Tasmanian Devil.

DAY 6: Cradle Mountain to Stanley
Take a morning walk around Dove Lake, formed by glaciation in this region over 10,000 years ago. The Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park is part of Tasmania’s World Heritage wilderness area. Read more.

Heading north through the town of Sheffield with its colourful murals, and then west along the north-west coast of the island. This region is famed for its dairy farms and agriculture, steeped in history and community pride. Stanley was established in the 1830s as a sheep grazing township.

Further west to Smithton, Marrawah and Arthur River, where you can breathe in the cleanest air in the world. Read more.

DAY 7: Stanley to Launceston
Cruise to Bull Rock, off the north-west coast, where a colony of 200 Australian Fur Seals cavort on the surrounding reef.

Journey east to Launceston, via historic country towns – Latrobe and Deloraine.

Dine in one of Launceston’s award-winning restaurants.

DAY 8:  Launceston to St Helens
We check out the Cataract Gorge and the world’s longest single-span chairlift across its basin, just minutes from the city centre.

If all that work makes you thristy, there are tours of the local Boag’s Brewery and then a tour of theTamar Valley wine region.

Journeying east towards St Helens north to Bridport and Barnbougle Dunes Links Golf Course.

In the far north corner of Tasmania is the Mount William National Park, where Tasmanian wildlife lives in abundance.

DAY 9:  St Helens (via Bay of Fires) to Swansea
North of St Helens are the pristine beaches of Binalong Bay and the Bay of Fires, framed by the azzure waters of the Tasman Sea and the lichen-red rocks.

Take a detour to Coles Bay and the Freycinet National Park. Take a gentle kayaking tour around the coastline and enjoy lunch prepared by your guide.

Continue south to Swansea for dinner overlooking Great Oyster Bay.

DAY 10:  Swansea to Tasman Peninsula
A leisurely start to the day before continuing south along the magnificent coastal road, looking out over Great Oyster Bay to Maria Island.

After a lunch-stop at the resort town of Orford, we’ll travel through Wielangta State Forest on the way to the the Tasman Peninsula. Stop at Eaglehawk Neck for your first taste of the region’s convict past. Read more.

DAY 11: Port Arthur to Hobart
Spend a few hours exploring the Port Arthur Historic Site on a guided tour, including the Isle of the Dead.
The peninsula also boasts some impressive natural rock formations, such as Tasman’s Arch, Devil’s Kitchen, Remarkable Caves, and Tessellated Pavement.

The journey back to Hobart is just 1 ½ hours; just over an hour to Hobart airport.
